photoshop help?

i just got photoshop cs6, and i'm kind of clueless. 
i've learned to do a few things with text, but other then that it would be great if someone who was pretty experienced with it could show me the basics because i'm just really lost. xD 
i've used gimp for 3 years and it a lot different from it, haha
even if you know a website, or anything with some tutorials that would be great.

i really dont know how to work photoshop i just use it for making texties and making pictures transparent

i actually do the animations on gimp and text on ps. xD
i don't know how make pictures transparent, could you maybe explain that? lol
